Happy Thanksgiving!

We are all geared up for the Holiday.  Lots of installations this week and next, and then we will all take a few days off for much deserved rest and relaxation.  And a little turkey besides.

Our workroom has been turning out some fabulous designs, we have created a bedroom ensemble in our showroom  Please come by and have a look.  We are running a 10% discount on all workroom projects through the end of the year, however, for Christmas delivery, the deadline is just around the corner. For most projects, the cutoff time will be December 1.

Gloria has been designing beautiful floral arrangements and wreaths also, some of which will be available for purchase.  Please stop by today if you are interested in some custom designs for your home for Christmas, and beyond.

Our new Showcase Hunter Douglas display is full of the latest in window coverings, our personal favorite is the Platinum App where you can program your shadings with your iPad and iPhone.  We have several window coverings to play around with, and would love for our clients to stop in and have a trial run.  We are really enjoying the flexibility.

It's. a masterpiece!

That's what the homeowner said today!  After a year of dealing with builder, installers and various trades people, we are finally getting to the fun part.  Since we finished the house in July we have been tweaking  and adding to our original choices. Floral arrangements Adorn the lovely golden front door  and a discovery in Bee Cave last weekend netted a great find of accessories.  The homeowner has lived in 44 countries and her furnishings reflect that.  We have been able to meld her wonderfully unique pieces with many of today's imports and achieve a beautiful result.  

After doing custom draperies she had originally opted for ready made bedroom ensembles but when the final reveal was done she decided she preferred custom made bedding too.   Great choice, so we still have a few pieces coming from the workroom.  Since we don't do the quilting in our workroom we had to send them out. They are due any day?

I have posted an online photo album today with a few photos in it, but will be adding more as the days go by.  She is still getting landscaping done, so there will be much more to come

Installing an Averte fold woven drapery in a master bedroom that was way too hot.  And a skylight.

Tomorrow we  are taking a road trip to Arkansas to visit m y sister and recharge the creative batteries in preparation for the upcoming holiday season.  And exciting news from houzz. I'm sure you have heard of it!!!  Schedule a photo shoot when I return and get ready to bring it all online!!!  More to come.

To Austin and beyond

Today we are off to Austin, Zilker Park area. To install some Powerrise Hunter Douglas outdoor shades. This Lully we get an early start before it gets too hot.   Since I still need a few accessories to finish our  Sunday Drive project I may try to stop by a few stores in Bee Caves on the way back

Wednesday we are installing a whole house of Horizons shades, drapery and a huge cornice. These shades are also remote control By SOMFY.  Being able to control your window shadings with a touch of a button is becoming very popular today.  Since prices have come down considerably due to new technology it is more affordable than ever and it is sooo convenient.  Hunter Douglas can even be on a timer, or controlled by solar heat or your iPhone or iPad.!  Wow!

We have our workroom and warehouse moved and the outdoor cushion season is in turbo mode. Berta is cranking out some lovely Sunbrella cushions, we even did 12 pair of monogrammed ones. They turned out great ! 

Only 3 more days and Dave and I are taking a road trip to see my sister and her husband in north Arkansas.  I hope it's cooler there but if not, we'll just stay by the pool!  It will be nice to take a trip now that Dave is driving again.  When we return we will be trying to get the last few installations done for the Labor Day weekend, then on to the fall holidays! Time to get your home ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas folks. It's just around the corner.....

Moving ? Record breaking heat?

Finally ready to deliver the furniture and install most of the window coverings on our latest project house .itmwas supposed to be,finished in cold weather ( February) but of course we picked the hottest day of the year !  106 and counting.  The fun begins.  A follow up appointment today and I made notes of the little things to finish up.. Cushions. We were short on rings on the drapery and a few other items. The homeowner has done an amazing job getting unpacked so we will start this week on accessorizing. She has so many beautiful pieces from the 44 countries she has lived in, we will showcase them and fill in the gaps. The home is a mixture of the past and an updated functional present. She is loving her motorized Hunter Douglas pirouettes in the den/sunroom and over the Master tub. They are Gorgeous! 

The subway tile and iridescent linear deco trim is the perfect traditional accent to the quartz countertops we selected . I will be posting close ups of all the finishes in an online album soon. 

She has a very clear idea of the way she wants her home to function, we have truly enjoyed working with her and the builder to create the "home of her dreams"

To the Capitol

Installation tomorrow right across from the state Capitol.  One of my wonderful clients has a condo there with a fabulous view of the Texas state Capitol.  They have totally remodeled this 1920's era 

Condo keeping true to the original feel of the building.  We are doing the incredibly energy efficient Hunter  Douglas Architella shades.  That way she has the-privacy when she wants it but an unobstructed  view when that is the desire.

Then Friday we start on the house on Sunday Drive.  We will install the window coverings that day and start moving and decorating next week .

Finally at the goal post

The lovely new home we have been working on since fall should be finished this week.  We have installation of new Hunter Douglas window coverings, including motorized Pirouettes, Silhouettes, shutters, drapery , cornices and so much more! Can hardly wait.

The house in Lometa is still undergoing yet another facelift.  This time it's the game room.  They purchased a pool table, and we ordered them a leather sofa in, Whiskey, appropriate , I think! I he.ped with selections of lighting,sofa tables, and we have ordered the area rugs.  We are doing grommet top drapery on the windows, over Hunter Douglas wood blinds.  The drapery are almost ready, should be installing soon.

Our outdoor cushion business is really "heating up". We just got an order for some monogrammed cushions. This weekend I got the embroidery machine out, monogrammed a few shirts for my warehouse manager and made sure we were ready to go.

My son and two older children , 8and 9 , will be arriving Tuesday for a visit. Not sure how long, but I'm looking forward to seeing them. I hope they will be able to stay through the 4th of July so we can enjoy the fireworks over Lake LBJ

Busy times, so I better get going......

Bluebonnets, Broken Bones and New Homes!

A lot has happened since my last post,  the last post was the day before I got the call that my husband had an accident in Texas while I was in Nashville. A fractured femur and hip has him down for a while , but business goes on!  I never got to Opryland for lunch and a visit, had to fly back to Texas early for Dave's surgery.  All went well, and now 12 weeks of non weight bearing healing, then physical therapy, not sure when he will be back up and running but soon we hope.

Our house on Sunday Drive is still plugging along . The tile is complete and it is beautiful. Our star tile installer outdid himself this time.  From the glass accents in the master shower and vanity backsplash to the iridescent waterfall tile with the urban putty rectangular backsplash in the kitchen with a brick joint pattern, it is perfect.   Travertine surrounds the fireplace, custom built to give us enough room to hang a lovely red/gold multicolor Tapestry the owner picked up in her many travels around the world.  Travertine also add a warm welcome to the vestibule, which will be stunning when we get our decorating finished.  The lighting, from Broadway Showroom, is perfect.  The vestibule has a champagne bronze fixture with alabaster accents, and round globes were love at first sight for the owner.  They are fantastic.

We are waiting for the air conditioning to be turned on so that we can get the wood flooring installed, then the carpet.  Most of the window treatments are ready, but they will be the last thing,  The completion date is moving further and further away, as the custom touches are added. The front porch and entry are truly custom, and look very grand.

The house on Esteresa is getting another wave of decoration, the game room .  It was the only one left, and the owners are ready to get it underway now. Faux suede drapery with leather trim, grommet tops are unique to this room.  An outdoor living area and deck is also in the plan, working on the plans now.

More to come next week, working on a whole house paint and window treatment transformation.

The bluebonnet s are blooming and everything is coming up roses!

We can certainly see its springtime in Texas . Our clients can too as they are certainly busy getting their homes ready for summer .  Our project in Lometa area is now ready for the final window coverings on the game room.  This 1940's ranch style has a great spacious front room in addition to the den where we added the faux suede cornices with nailhead trim.  We are doing drapery in this game room, very casual but will help with the acoustics since it has the original hardwood floors.
We will start on that as soon as I return from my family visit to Nashville TN.  Tomorrow we go to
Opryland for lunch and visit.

A beautiful Sunday Drive

Our latest project is a lovely new home in Burnet, we have had the pleasure of helping the homeowner from the beginning of construction.  We completed most of the tile last week, with the exception of the travertine fireplace surround and hearth.  When the custom mantle is complete we will finish up.  In two weeks, we should start on the lovely engineered hardwood flooring, then the carpet. Hunter Douglas window coverings, including motorized roller shades and Pirouettes, will cover the windows beautifully, and raw silk-look drapery panels, shower curtain, cornices and all sorts of fabric ensembles will top this off beautifully.  We have truly had a great time on this home. And the fun is just beginning.

The style is very much traditional elegance, and she and I both love the color green!  It shows, soft green walls in most rooms with beautiful white crown molding and trim, and the master suite is the best.  A closet one could almost live in, but the custom tile shower is a close second.  Glass and iridescent waterfall tile add the perfect accent to the neutral tile, and quartz countertops.  This house is definitely one of a kind, will post pictures shortly.   More to come....
